Every student has their own way of learning — and my goal is to meet them right where they are. Whether it’s building a stronger math foundation, preparing for the SAT or ACT, or tackling homework challenges, I help students gain skills, confidence, and a genuine understanding of math that lasts.

I am Janos Geller, your math tutor.
I've always had a passion for math. Originally from Hungary, I earned a Master’s in Theoretical Mathematics before spending many years working in technology as an Oracle consultant and big data expert. It was a rewarding career, but after taking an early retirement, I felt the pull to return to what I’ve always loved most — teaching.
Today, I help high school students make sense of math, from Algebra and Geometry to SAT and ACT prep. As a former national bridge champion in Hungary, I bring the same mix of strategy, focus, and patience to my tutoring.
I live in Mendham, NJ with my wife and our younger son. My older son is already in college (with a soaring SAT score). I take pride in teaching kids locally and in Morris County.
My students describe me as warm, patient, and clear in my explanations. I aim to help them not just learn the material, but truly understand it — and feel confident along the way.

As a highly qualified tutor I bring experience and passion to every session, ensuring effective, customized learning for each student.

From online to in-person sessions, I offer flexible scheduling to meet the unique needs and busy lives of students and families.

With a track record of improved grades, test scores and confidence, my tutoring program helps students reach their full academic potential.
I offer tutoring in all high school math subjects: Algebra 1, 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, PreCalc and Calculus AB and BC. I specialize in standardized test prep: SAT, ACT, PSAT.
I provide both online and in-person options to accommodate different learning preferences and schedules. However, in-person tutoring is preferred for even higher efficiency. If you are local in Morris County, I can come to your home.
Yes! I offer flexible scheduling to fit your availability, ensuring that learning fits seamlessly into your routine.
For SAT/ACT the best time to start preparation is sophomore year. I also work with juniors and seniors (last minute)! For general math tutoring I work with students from 8th grade and up. If you have a younger student, contact me and we can discuss it.

My personalized approach has made a real difference in the lives of students. Here’s what they have to say about their learning journey.

Mr. Geller makes math make sense. He’s super patient, and his tips for the SAT really helped me raise my score (to 790). I walked into the test feeling calm and prepared.

Preparing for the SAT with Mr. Geller was quite enjoyable. He broke down complex problems into easier tasks. He also taught me some useful test strategies. My Math SAT went from 650 to 780 in a few months of learning with him.

My daughter went from struggling in math to actually enjoying it—something I never thought I’d say! Her confidence has skyrocketed, and her math grades improved within just a few weeks. Janos is patient, encouraging, and really knows how to connect with kids. Highly recommend!

Janos has a rare gift for explaining complex math concepts in a way that just clicks. My son not only boosted his SAT Math score but also gained real confidence.
